Lux adresses the evolution of sunlight over the daytime, and how it performs changes in the color schemes, feelings, textures, moods, energy and environments. These changes helped shaping the collection, and the way it flows from beggining to end.
The collection starts the same way as a day: weightless and gentle. The dawn or 'El alba' is that peaceful moment before the day awakes, when colors are still subtle and pale. The aire is pure and lighweight, everything is velvet-textured and tainted in lilac tones. These gowns, inspired in sleeping atires, are drawn up in self-dyed silk organza. The subtle flowers are printed using cyanotype: natural flowers hand-picked give shape to the pattern.
Later, orange and yellow tones start to blend with lilacs, and it appears as if the world starts to wake up. We start to feel the energy kicking, light come up stronger, shadows and textures start to appear. Sunrise's garments are dyed with airbrush, drawing an irregular degradé from lilac to a pale yellow, and appears to be more adapted to the morning activity.
When noon arrives, the most powerful and euphoric time of the day begins. Shadows dissapear, light is strong and violent, and erases the texture on surfaces. It's the most energetic moment, when more active and motivated we feel. This euphoria is translated to the dresses by Bundle Dyeing, a technique which uses natural leaves and flowers to dye fabrics. They leave their shape and color on the gauzes and crepes, making a irregular and unique pattern.
The golden hour is the most magical moment in the day. Everything glows on its way. Shadows start to lengthen, and textures appear rougher. The sun colors the surroundings in gold just before it goes down. For this moment, fabrics are light and flowy, dyed in a shiny degradé that goes from bright gold to ocre.
From sunset to night, everything goes quiet and calm. The sun dissapears, with a last glimpse of light, and leaves a beautiful gradation of cold colors that fade into the night. For this final moment, a series of night gowns were designed. In embroidered tulles and gauzes, they all are manually printed with gold-shimmery tint.
